Paver Overlays
Overlaying existing Concrete Steps with pavers can transform them into an entranceway with character and charm.

Concrete Stairwells can take on a drab appearance over time. A combination of Bullnose pavers and standard pavers can revitalize their appearance. The concrete steps below just look dreary.
I left the drain at the bottom of the stairwell in tact and cut a hole in the pavers directly over the drain for the new grating.

At the top of the steps, I removed the existing concrete pad because it had begun to sink and expanded the area for the future pad.

**************************************************************************Paver Paver Overlays on concrete platforms

Existing concrete platforms, steps and walkways can be turned into beautiful paver overlays. The existing material does not have to be demolished and replaced with a sub-base. Instead, it can be recycled and reused as a new sub-base. This process can cut the installation cost drastically.

The owner wanted pavers used on his entrance and did not know he could simply build upon the existing walkway.

The process required building out the sides of the sidewalk and the raised platform using tamped 2A modified stone. This was done because a block retaining wall was to go around the raised platform, and, the walkway was going to be made wider.

Each step had an LED light installed under the center Bullnose Paver. It was connected to a transformer equipped with a programable timer.

The color of the inside slabs is "Montauk Blue" The color of the 4" x 9" borders or "soldier course" is "Onyx Natural". The color of the raised edgers is also "onyx natural". I used Cambridge Pavers and their "Ledgestone I" Slabs for the Walkway.
